Home Learning Expectations
To support your child’s learning at home, we will be sending home weekly homework.
This will be sent home in their 'Home Learning' books and will cover various topics we have taught over the week and could be core curriculum and/or wider curriculum.
Reading
For children to make good progress in their reading, we recommend that they read 3 x a week and record it in their home learning diary by colouring in the book on that week. Children will have a 'Learn To Read' book which will be supported and monitored by the teacher as they progress through the book bands as well as a 'Love To Read' book from the library. The class will also have a 'Class Reader' to read every day as a class.
Spelling
Each week on a Monday, children will be sent home with a list of words in their diaries to learn that follow a spelling rule that is being taught in class. These words will be tested on the following Monday.
Maths
For children to continue to make good progress in their maths, we recommend they practise their times tables and the related division facts using Times Table Rockstars for at least 15 minutes per week. That's just 3 minutes a day!
Reading - please continue to read lots, the children should all have a coloured book band book to practise at home.
