Reading

Regular reading is vital for your child to make progress with their literacy skills. The children read at least twice each week in school with their class teachers to develop fluency and comprehension skills.

Your child would benefit enormously by reading at least three times per week for a minimum of 10 minutes. Please record your child's reading in their reading record book as they are regularly checked and monitored.

The more your child reads at home, the greater their chances of winning a reading prize!

Thank you for your continued support regarding reading.

Phonics/Spelling

This week in phonics we have looked at the kn digraph, including the word knee! Today we  are looking at the unusual digraph gn.  Read the words and spot the digraph. Where does it usually appear in the word? The beginning, middle or end? Is it usually by any other type of letter?

Extension task - If you have a pen/pencil and paper, have a go at spelling the words correctly without peeking.

Fill in the correct word for this sentence, the missing words all use either a kn or gn digraph.

Greta put the __________ and fork on the table.

She held up a _________ saying STOP!

Tom hurt his leg and had a cut on his _________.

I heard a ___________ on the door.

Extension task  - Apply the words in your own sentences!

English
